What is microwave ...? The microwave is one of electromagnetic waves. Frequency ranging from 300 MHz to 300 GHz of the electromagnetic wave is called "microwave". The microwave is used for radar, communication device like mobile phones, medical treatment and industrial heat treatment. The frequency which is permitted for industrial heat treatment by the Wireless Telegraphy Act. of Japan is 2.45 GHz and most popular application is microwave oven for cooking. |

Why can the material be heated by microwave ...? The substances are devided into conductor, semi-conductor, insulator. And insulator is also called "dielectric". The ceramic is classified as a dielectric. Water, ethyl alchol and methyl alchol are also considered as dielectrics. The dielectric is neutral in the electrical field, but when the electrolysis is added to the dielectric, "+" pole and "-" pole are separated inside of the dielectric. When the electrolysis is added to the dielectric conversely, separated "+" pole and "-" pole are reversed. In case 2.45 GHz microwave is used, the high frequency electric field is alternated at 2,450,000,000 times/sec. And due to the impact and the friction of molecules the heat is generated. This is so-called "dielectric heating". And in order to distinguish it from "dielectric heating by high frequency" which has been popular up to now , it is called "microwave heating". |
